The cues received by the individual under the peripheral route are generally unrelated to the logical quality of the stimulus. A way of processing an argument by looking at secondary characteristics. Usually employed when the person processing an argument isn’t famliar with or doesn’t understand the facts (primary characteristics). Contrasted by Central route processing.
